Medium Depths

The medium depth range for walleye falls into that 10 to 15 foot range, not quite shallow, but not quite deep either when thinking about walleye fishing.  This is the area that a lot of walleye can be found during the peak feeding times, especially on dark colored bodies of water.  Walleye spend a lot more time in deeper water than shallow water, however, that 10 to 15 foot depth range has a lot of walleye that will be feeding in that range.  For example, a school of walleye may be in 20 feet of water, but they move up onto a point to feed in 6 to 15 feet of water.  Time it right and you can catch a bunch of these fish without having to fish deeper water.

Except for the spring time, you’re going to have a lot more success fishing deeper water, but there are times to hit some of these spots where water drops from shallow to deep.  Early morning and late in the evening will be the peak times for fishing these depths.
