Welcome to our Grand Haven, MI Fishing Home Page

Grand Haven is located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Grand River, for which it is named.  This area has plenty for its visitors with attractions, festivals & events, parks, beaches, shopping, dining and some excellent fishing.  You will also find plenty of lodging options here as well.

Salmon & Trout Fishing

Fishing is very popular out of this port.  Anglers target chinook salmon, coho salmon, lake trout, steelhead and brown trout in the waters of Lake Michigan.  You will find plenty of fishing charters out of this port too in case you want to do a chartered trip.  The Grand River also gives anglers the opportunity to fish for resident fish such as brown trout and brook trout.  From the lake, this river receives good runs of fish from Lake Michigan too. In the fall, anglers catch chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead, brown trout and lake trout can even be caught here too.

Smallmouth Bass Fishing

Lake Michigan has some smallmouth bass in this area.  Find the rocks and you’ll have a chance to find some smallmouth bass.  In this area, Lake Michigan is better for salmon and trout, so smallmouth bass are definitely a secondary species of fish here.  However, the Grand River is home to some very good smallmouth bass fishing and some of the inland lakes also give anglers the chance to target smallmouth.

Perch Fishing

Lake Michigan offers some good fishing for perch in the offshore waters in this area.  At times, the bite can be better close to the shorelines, but the bite is usually better in deeper waters.  Some of the inland lakes also offer good fishing for perch at times.  Pigeon Lake and Bruce Bayou are some popular places to target perch.

Grand River & Its Tributaries

The Grand River is home to some excellent fishing throughout the season.  Whether you target the resident fish such as smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, channel catfish, flathead catfish, carp, brown trout and brook trout or the fish that move into the river for their spawning runs.  In the fall, anglers catch chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead, brown trout and lake trout can even be caught here too.
