The Mississippi coast is home to some excellent saltwater fishing.  Biloxi gets the most attention along the Mississippi coast and it should since it has so much entertainment combined with beaches and a large fishing fleet.  Outside of Biloxi, anglers have more options if they want to visit small, coastal towns that give them access to some great inshore, shore and offshore fishing.


Bay of St. Louis


Bay of St. Louis is a small coastal town with an excellent location for people who enjoy outdoor recreation.  With its beaches, multiple fishing piers, a harbor and plenty of places to dine and stay overnight, this is a great town for those who want to get out on the water.  Anglers fish in the bay and out in the Gulf of Mexico for a variety of inshore and offshore species such as redfish, sea trout, cobia, snapper, grouper, sharks and others.



Biloxi, MS


Biloxi is located on the Gulf of Mexico.  It is a popular vacation destination because of its casinos, beaches and outstanding saltwater fishing.  The beaches lie directly on the Mississippi Sound and there are barrier islands scattered off of the coast.

The fishing is excellent in the waters off of Biloxi.  This area is known for its deep sea / offshore fishing.  There are plenty of shallow water opportunities as well with the barrier islands nearby.  There are a variety of fish to catch such as redfish, snapper, cobia, shark, grouper, and others.



D’Iberville, MS


D’Iberville is located on the water just north of Biloxi.  You won’t find as many fishing charters using D’Iberville as their home base since Biloxi is the popular fishing port here, however, there are a few charters who launch out of this town and you will be fishing the same inshore waters that you would if you were going to Biloxi.  If you are looking to stay inshore, you are closer to some of the better inshore fishing spots by launching in D’Iberville, Mississippi.



Diamondhead, MS


Diamondhead is a city in southeastern Hancock County, Mississippi.  It is located on Bay St. Louis and many people enjoy golfing in this town.  The bay is great for those that love being on the water.  In the bay, anglers target speckled trout and redfish primarily, but other fish are also available in the bay.



Gautier, MS


Gautier is a small town just west of Pascagoula, Mississippi.  Gautier is home to some beautiful scenery with golf courses, eco tours and some excellent charter fishing.  Anglers have so much inshore waters to fish here for speckled trout and redfish.  There is also direct access to the Gulf of Mexico, so anglers can head offshore to target snapper, grouper and many other species of fish.



Gulfport, MS


Gulfport is the 2nd largest city in Mississippi.  It is a very popular city on the Gulf of Mexico.  It is also home to the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport (GPT), which is the 2nd largest airport in the state of Mississippi.  If you’re looking for a good destination with lots to do and plenty of places to stay, Gulfport may be what you are looking for when it comes to a Mississippi coastal destination.  The city has plenty of parks, tons of water recreation, lots of dining and entertainment options.  Add in the excellent fishing and you have an awesome fishing vacation destination.  There are plenty of fishing charters that operate out of Gulfport Marina.



Long Beach, MS


Long Beach offers its southern charm with its beautiful scenery, local dining, public beaches and plenty of areas to ride your bike through town.  There is a small harbor here and a pier.  The fishing is excellent in the waters off of Long Beach and there are some fishing charters that operate out of the harbor here.  This area is known for its deep sea / offshore fishing.  There are plenty of shallow water opportunities as well with the barrier islands nearby.  There are a variety of fish to catch such as redfish, snapper, cobia, shark, grouper, and others.



Moss Point, MS


Moss Point is a smaller town located just north of Pascagoula.  This town is close enough to Pascagoula, so you have enough lodging and food options to go along with some stores also.  As far as the fishing goes, anglers have tons of inshore waters to fish here.  It is the perfect area to get out and fish in a smaller boat or kayak.  The backwaters are calm and offer very good fishing for speckled trout and redfish.



Ocean Springs, MS


Ocean Springs, Mississippi is a small coastal town that is known for its arts and festivals.  This town also has plenty to offer people that want to enjoy the water as well.  Enjoy the beach, the public fishing pier and all the areas that you can fish if you were planning on coming to Biloxi.  Fish the inshore waters or go offshore to target a variety of bottom and pelagic species.



Pascagoula, MS


Pascagoula is a small, coastal community located about 30 minutes from Biloxi.  There is plenty in this town that you can find plenty to do here on your vacation.  However, many people come here to visit, but will spend some time in nearby Biloxi because of all its entertainment and nightlife.  For the anglers, you have lots of water to go explore.  Enjoy the beach, fishing pier, parks with access to water, several boat launches and some excellent fishing inshore and offshore.  There are some fishing charters that launch out of this area as well.



Pass Christian, MS


Pass Christian is a small, coastal town located on the water.  There is enough here to keep you busy if you enjoy the outdoors.  Spend some time on the beach or at the local shops and restaurants.  There is a small harbor here with some boat slips and a nice boat launch.  Anglers has a short boat ride to the bay or they can go offshore to target a variety of fish.



Waveland, MS


Waveland is a small coastal town located on the water.  It is the only community of the Mississippi Gulf Coast which prohibits commercial buildings on its beachfront.  You’ll find the Veteran’s Memorial Monument and the adjacent Garfield Pier, which is popular for fishing and just hanging out to enjoy the water.  Anglers can fish from shore, nearshore, offshore and it is a fairly short boat ride away to fish the bays.
