Clarkston, WA


Clarkston is a city in Asotin County, Washington.  It is part of the Lewiston, ID-WA metropolitan area, and is located west of Lewiston, Idaho, which is across from the Snake River.  The population of Clarkston is around 7,000 people, but it feels bigger with its neighbor Lewiston, Idaho.  This entire area makes a great vacation destination for a variety of outdoor activities.  The area rivers are popular for rafting, boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming and more.

The Columbia River is enormous.  It flows through Oregon and Washington and it is a very popular river for fishing.  The river is known for its salmon and steelhead runs, however, there is always an outstanding walleye fishery to go along with excellent smallmouth bass fishing and it is considered one of the best places to fish for sturgeon.  The Columbia River is an incredible river that flows through so many popular destinations.

Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington are the 2 main towns that make up the Lewis Clark Valley area.  This is where people come who want to explore the beauty of Hells Canyon, which is North America’s deepest river gorge.  There is plenty to do in town or out on the river.  In town, people have plenty of shops, restaurants and lodging to accommodate them on their trip.  On the river, people enjoy checking out the scenery from guided jet boats or rafts.  Anglers have good success fishing for a variety of trout in the area waters.

The Snake River is a popular river located in southern Idaho and it flows along the Idaho – Oregon border.  The river enters the state of Washington and flows west to converge with the Columbia River.  It is a huge stretch of water that offers anglers some very good fishing opportunities.  You have miles upon miles of productive water to fish in the river with some awesome reservoir fishing along the Snake River as well.  Depending where you are fishing, you may be able to catch smallmouth bass, steelhead, salmon, crappie, catfish and trout.

The North Cascades are located in northern Washington State.  The Cascade Range is part of a vast mountain chain that spans for over 500 miles from Mount Shasta in northern California to British Columbia in the north.  This mountain range is one of the most scenic mountains in the United States with its sharp peaks, rugged terrain, numerous alpine glaciers, rivers, streams and lakes.  The northern portion of the range has an average elevation of 7,000 feet.  Anglers catch a variety of trout, salmon, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and more throughout the mountain lakes, rivers and streams.

The coastal communities of Washington are home to some beautiful scenery with its beaches, rugged shorelines and beautiful waters that are home to a variety of fish and other wildlife.  Most of these coastal cities are small communities that are known for their excellent salmon fishing.  While salmon are definitely the bread and butter for most fishing charters here, anglers do catch a variety of fish in the area waters such as lingcod, flounder, tuna and more.
