Grand Isle, LA

Grand Isle is a Louisiana town on a narrow barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico.  It is known for its beaches, including the ones found at Grand Isle State Park.  Grand Isle is Louisiana’s only inhabited barrier island.  It is a great spot to start your next fishing adventure.  Whether you plan on staying close to shore or you choose to head offshore, you have so many options for some incredible fishing.  Inshore, anglers target redfish, sea trout, flounder, sheepshead and black drum.  Offshore, there are so many species of fish to target.  Some of the most popular fish to target offshore in this area are sharks, marlin, wahoo, amberjack, snapper, grouper, tuna and more.


Houma, LA

Houma is located just 55 miles from New Orleans.  This area is home to miles and miles of water that is home to some excellent fishing opportunities.  There are a bunch of inshore saltwater fishing charters that target redfish, sea trout, flounder, black drum and sheepshead.  Some charters will go out and fish the offshore waters out of Houma as well.  The fishing can be incredible for a variety of offshore fish species such as sharks, marlin, wahoo, amberjack, snapper, grouper, tuna and more.


Lake Charles, LA

Lake Charles is a town in southwest Louisiana.  This area is very popular as a tourist destination because of its casinos and great outdoors.  The area has plenty of water with Lake Charles and the Calcasieu Estuary, which includes the Calcasieu River and Ship Channel from Lake Charles all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico.  Most fishermen visit this area to visit Calcasieu Lake, which is about a half hour drive from Lake Charles.  There are many more accommodations and much more entertainment in Lake Charles, so fishermen will typically book their lodging in Lake Charles, then meet up with their fishing charter at Calcasieu Lake.

Calcasieu Lake is known as one of the best speckled trout fisheries in the country.  Other types of fish can be caught throughout the lake and estuary system.  Some of the common species are redfish, flounder, black drum, sheepshead and ladyfish.


Mississippi River

The Mississippi River starts at Lake Itasca in northern Minnesota and ends in the Gulf of Mexico about 100 miles south of New Orleans, Louisiana.  It covers more than 2,300 miles and flows through 10 states including 5 major cities.  The fishery can be very good depending on what part of the river you are fishing.  It will fish much differently up in Minnesota than it does down near New Orleans.  There are several featured fishing destinations that we cover that include the Mississippi River as a good body of water to be fishing in that specific area.

Morgan City, also known as the Cajun Coast area, is a great place to visit if you enjoy the outdoors and are looking to enjoy some of Louisiana’s excellent sea food.  This city is home to plenty of industrial vessels and shrimp boats as this area has thrived from the oil and seafood businesses.  If you enjoy fishing, you have so many options with all the water in this area.  Freshwater fishing and saltwater inshore fishing are very popular as anglers can catch largemouth bass, sunfish, crappie, catfish, redfish, sea trout and more.


New Orleans, LA

New Orleans is a popular city in Louisiana.  Known for Mardi Gras and it’s fantastic seafood restaurants, New Orleans is an awesome fishing vacation destination.  Lake Pontchartrain is a large estuary that is a popular lake a variety of freshwater and saltwater species.  The mighty Mississippi River flows south to the Gulf of Mexico and it provides anglers so many awesome spots to fish.  Whether you choose to fish the area freshwater lakes, the river, or the miles and miles of saltwater in bayou country.  Anglers usually target largemouth bass, redfish, sea trout, black drum and flounder in the area waters.  If you head a little further south, you can get into some of the best offshore fishing in the country.


Toledo Bend Reservoir


Toledo Bend Reservoir Fishing

Toledo Bend Reservoir is a huge reservoir with more than 181,000 surface acres.  It is located on the Sabine River in Shelby, Sabine and Newton counties and it straddles the Texas-Louisiana state line.  The dam is in Newton County approximately 24 miles northeast of Jasper, Texas.  Its maximum depth is 110 feet.  Toledo Bend Reservoir is one of the best largemouth bass lakes in the country.


Venice, LA


Venice, LA Fishing

Venice, Louisiana is a small, unincorporated community located about 75 miles south of New Orleans.  This community was almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and the the rebuilding process is ongoing, but the people that cater to the tourists have been very resilient.  This area is known as one of the best fishing destinations on the planet.

The nutrient-driven Mississippi River helps create one of the most exciting fisheries in the entire world.  With all of the oil rigs and deep water located just miles offshore, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish on a regular basis.  Redfish get a lot of attention here as you can catch them by the dozens and maybe even hundreds if you hit it right.  Trout are also here in good numbers inshore and you can go offshore and fish for so many different species of fish.  The fishing is truly unbelievable compared to most other destinations.
