Welcome to our Keweenaw Peninsula Fishing Home Page

The Keweenaw Peninsula is the most northern part of Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. Here, you will find some great fishing from inland lakes to the waters of Lake Superior and Keweenaw Bay.  Anglers target a variety of fish in this area.  On inland lakes, they come here mostly for the walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass and perch fishing.  On the waters of Lake Superior, salmon and trout are priority, but other fish are available.  On the spawning streams, steelhead provide exciting action.

Salmon & Trout Fishing

Lake Superior offers some excellent fishing for salmon and trout.  There are some fishing charters available here as well to help you target lake trout, king salmon and steelhead. Trophy fish are also possible in this area also, especially lake trout.

Walleye Fishing

Walleye fishing is very popular on Portage Lake and Torch Lake.  These lakes are known as good walleye lakes for numbers and some very big walleye exist in both of these lakes.  You can find walleye in some of the other lakes in this area as well, but Portage Lake & Torch Lake get most of the attention.

Muskie Fishing

Smallmouth Bass are usually not targeted nearly as much up here as walleye, northern pike, salmon and trout, but smallmouth are definitely present in many of the lakes up here.  In Portage Lake and Torch Lake, there are large enough populations of them that if you target them, you should be able to catch some fish and there are some good-sized fish available also.

Largemouth Bass Fishing

Largemouth Bass are present in some of the lakes up here, but they are not here in large numbers.  Some anglers catch largemouth bass while fishing for panfish, smallmouth bass or northern pike.

Panfish are available in many of the lakes up here.  Inland, crappie, bluegill and perch are popular on many of the lakes.  Jumbo perch are available in Keeweenaw Bay, although, they may be difficult to find in large numbers.
