Welcome to our Beaufort, SC Fishing Home Page

Beaufort, South Carolina is a small town with some awesome inshore fishing available.  You won’t find the beaches here, but you can find them about 45 minutes to an hour away on nearby Hilton Head Island.  You will find plenty of restaurants and lodging here to accommodate you.  If you enjoy the outdoors, there is plenty of outdoor recreation to keep you busy as well.

This area is known for its inshore fishing.  Redfish and sea trout get the most attention here and they should.  There are so many shallow water spots to target these fish in the area.  You may also catch a variety of other fish such as tarpon, ladyfish, flounder, jack crevalle and sheepshead.

Inshore Fishing

Beaufort did so well with our rankings because of its awesome inshore fishing. Anglers usually target redfish and sea trout, however, you may catch a variety of fish here such as sharks, drum, flounder and more. If you take a look at the map, you will see that this place was made for the inshore angler who wants to target redfish and speckled trout. You have so many options here.

Nearshore Fishing

In this area, it is more popular to fish the nearshore waters out of Hilton Head Island, so it may be easier to find a charter that operates out of there if you want to fish the nearshore waters. You can still do it out of Beaufort, but it’s a little farther boat ride. The fishing will be the same because you will be fishing many of the same areas that you would be if you were visiting Hilton Head Island. Some of the nearshore reefs and wrecks will hold a variety of fish such as sheepshead, black sea bass, sharks, snapper, grouper, king mackerel and more. Other fish that can be found nearshore are bluefish, Spanish mackerel and cobia.

Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing

You will have a little farther boat ride here if you plan on going out to fish the offshore waters near Beaufort. Some people will just head over to Hilton Head Island to find an offshore charter. The fishing will be the same as the Hilton Head Island area. Fish the reefs and wrecks for snapper, grouper, sharks, barracuda, amberjack, king mackerel and other fish or go after tuna, marlin, mahi mahi, sailfish and more.

Surf & Pier Fishing

Beaufort doesn’t have the surf fishing that many anglers are used to finding in most of our popular saltwater fishing destinations.  It’s an awesome inshore destination with some piers available to fish, but if you’re looking for the typical surf and pier fishing, Hilton Head Island is about a 45 minute drive away and home to some awesome beaches with good fishing opportunities from the surf and piers.
