Welcome to our Heber Valley Fishing Home Page

Heber Valley, located in the mountains of Utah, gives anglers a variety of options for planning a fishing vacation.  There are several reservoirs, rivers and streams where anglers can target a variety of fish, but the fly fishing for brown trout and rainbow trout is most what people come here to do.  Heber Valley is beautiful and there are enough area businesses to make your trip enjoyable.

Primary Species of Fish

Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Smallmouth Bass

There are several reservoirs, rivers and streams where anglers can target a variety of fish, but the fly fishing for brown trout, rainbow trout and cutthroat trout is most what people come here for.  In Deer Creek Reservoir, there is also a good population of smallmouth bass.

Provo River

The Provo River is a very good trout river and it is regarded as one of the better trout rivers in the Rocky Mountains.  Anglers can do well here with numbers and trophy fish potential too.  Cutthroat trout, rainbow trout and brown trout bring anglers here from all over the country.

Weber River

This river is a favorite of many locals in this area.  It’s a medium-sized river and it is close to Heber and Park City, Utah.  If you are looking to find a place away from other people, but not have to make a long car trip, you may want to fish this river.  Anglers target cutthroat trout, rainbow trout and brown trout.  Some trophy fish can be caught here too.

Deer Creek Reservoir

Deer Creek Reservoir is a large reservoir just outside of Heber City in the Heber Valley.  The lake is a popular fishing and boating destination.  With a large state park here, people have good access to the lake.  The scenery is beautiful with the mountains surrounding the lake and the fishing is good for a variety of fish species.  Anglers usually come to the lake to target smallmouth bass and rainbow trout, however, you may also catch largemouth bass, walleye, yellow perch and brown trout.

Small Streams

There are many places to get away from it all and fish all by yourself if you choose to.  The small rivers and streams in this area give you that option.  Fish for a variety of trout in the area’s smaller streams, but don’t expect to find as many bigger trout in them.  Most of the streams are known for producing good action, but not as many big fish as on the bigger rivers.
