Pentwater is a village in Oceana County. It’s a small community, but it offers people a nice place to get away and enjoy the outdoors away from the crowds. Located on the shore of Lake Michigan and Pentwater Lake, there is plenty to do here for those of you that enjoy being out on the water.
Salmon & Trout Fishing
Anglers target chinook salmon, coho salmon, lake trout, steelhead and brown trout in the waters of Lake Michigan. This isn’t a very popular port compared to some of the other areas in Michigan, but there are several fishing charters available here and you can go out in your own boat as well.
Smallmouth Bass Fishing
Some anglers target smallmouth bass on Lake Michigan, but salmon and trout are definitely the primary fish targeted and smallmouth bass are secondary. You can also catch some smallmouth bass in Pentwater Lake, which is connected to Lake Michigan.
Perch Fishing
Some anglers target perch on Lake Michigan and there are some big perch in the lake to catch. Perch are also available on Pentwater Lake.
Pentwater Lake
You can target a variety of fish on this lake such as northern pike, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, perch, bluegill, rock bass and there have even been some reports of big walleye here, but don’t expect to find good numbers of walleye in this lake.
