Corpus Christi is a coastal city in the southeastern part of Texas.  It is a large city and a popular tourist destination.  Visitors will find miles of beaches and plenty of activities such as fishing, boating, wind sports and more.

The Corpus Christi area is home to some awesome fishing.  Corpus Christi Bay offers some excellent fishing for redfish and trout and there are numerous fishing charters available in the area.  Fish from the surf, the piers, inshore or offshore.  You have a lot of options in this area.



Inshore Fishing


Inshore fishing is what most anglers come to this area for. The bay offers very good fishing for a variety of fish. Most anglers prefer to go after redfish, speckled trout and flounder, however, you can catch many other fish such as snook, tarpon, jack crevalle, sheepshead and black drum. There other species of fish here to catch as well.


Nearshore Fishing


You’re going to have to make a pretty good run out of the bay to get to the beaches if you want to do some nearshore fishing. Nearshore, anglers can target a variety of fish along the beaches. The inshore fishing is what most people come to Corpus Christi for, but nearshore, you could catch tarpon, cobia, grouper, snapper, kingfish, Spanich mackerel and more.


Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing


You have to make a good run to get out to the deep sea fishing spots. Port Aransas is where many people will go if they’re looking to do some deep sea fishing in this area. If you’re launching out of Corpus Christi, it’s going to take you a lot longer to get to the offshore fishing spots that most people target in this area. Some of the popular fish that are caught offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, amberjack, king mackerel, barracuda, sharks, tuna, sailfish, marlin and others.


Surf & Pier Fishing


This area has plenty of options for shore fishing. Whether you are fishing from the piers or in the state park, anglers can catch a variety of fish such as trout, flounder, redfish, sheepshead, jack crevalle, black drum.  Snook and tarpon are also possible depending on the season. Wade fishing is also popular here.
