Largemouth Bass

Largemouth bass are present in most of the area lakes in this area.  They may not be the primary species of fish in each lake, but if you want to target largemouth bass, you definitely can do that in this area.

Northern Pike

Northern pike are in many of the lakes in this area.  Don’t expect to catch many giants, but there are enough pike in the area that you can definitely get some action by targeting northern pike here.

Smallmouth Bass

Smallmouth bass are in many of the lakes in this area.  There are some quality fish in the area, but don’t expect to catch a bunch of monsters.  Many anglers will catch smallmouth bass while targeting walleye in deeper water, but if you want to target them specifically, you can catch some smallmouth bass here.

Trout

The area rivers and streams provide fishing for brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and steelhead.

Walleye

Walleye fishing is popular in the Manistique Lakes (North, Big and South).  How good the walleye fishing is will most likely depend on who you talk to.  Some anglers report very good fishing here, while others think these lakes are tough to fish.  There are decent numbers of walleye with some quality fish mixed in.
