Ned Rig

The Ned Rig is one of the best rigs for catching good numbers of bass.  It’s a finesse-style rig where you use a long shank hook and a 2.5 to 3 inch wacky-style worm.  Most anglers just break their 5 inch wacky worms in half to use with this rig, however, there are many manufacturers that are making awesome worms that are the perfect size and shape for the style of jigheads that are meant to go with them.  The shorter, thicker worm catches a lot of bass.

Ned Rig for Smallmouth Bass

The Ned rig is a fairly new rig that combines a jighead and a chunk worm.  Basically, you are using a tiny piece of worm with a jighead, but not there are many manufacturers that are making special jigheads to go with these shorter, fatter baits.  The shorter, fatter baits are still a finesse-style bait, but the thicker 2.5 to 3″ baits will definitely attract a lot of bigger bass than the pencil thin 2.5 to 3″ baits.

Ned Rig for Largemouth Bass

The Ned rig is one of the best rigs for catching a lot of largemouth bass.  It’s a finesse-style rig, so plan on catching a lot of smaller bass with some big fish mixed in.  Just use a jighead to rig the smaller piece of wacky worms (2.5 to 3 inch works best) and work this bait slowly along the bottom and you will get some bites.
