Mississippi Coastal
The Mississippi coast is home to some excellent saltwater fishing. Biloxi gets the most attention along the Mississippi coast and it should since it has so much entertainment combined with beaches and a large fishing fleet. Outside of Biloxi, anglers have more options if they want to visit small, coastal towns that give them access to some great inshore, shore and offshore fishing.
Grenada Lake
Grenada Lake is a reservoir on the Yalobusha River in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is one of four flood control lakes in North Mississippi constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Grenada Lake is a large lake that offers anglers a chance to target a variety of different fish species. Grenada Lake is known for its awesome crappie fishery. If you hit it right, you can catch good numbers of crappie with big fish up to 3 pounds. It is one of the best crappie lakes in the country for trophy crappie in the 2 to 3 pound range. Largemouth bass, catfish, white bass and sunfish round out the fishery.
Mississippi River
The Mississippi River starts at Lake Itasca in northern Minnesota and ends in the Gulf of Mexico about 100 miles south of New Orleans, Louisiana. It covers more than 2,300 miles and flows through 10 states including 5 major cities. The fishery can be very good depending on what part of the river you are fishing. It will fish much differently up in Minnesota than it does down near New Orleans. There are several featured fishing destinations that we cover that include the Mississippi River as a good body of water to be fishing in that specific area.
