White Perch Fishing Tips

The white perch is a small schooling fish that can survive in freshwater and saltwater.  Its native range was the Atlantic coast from Maine to South Carolina, but these fish are now available in the Great Lakes and other waters in the midwest.

Adult fish typically reach 8 to 10 inches in length and weigh up to 1 pound. They look similar to a white bass except they lack the prominent lateral stripes and white perch are usually smaller.

Most anglers use small baits such as brine shrimp and grass shrimp or sandworms.  Lures work also with smaller spoons and spinners being very effective.
