This area has some awesome walleye fishing. Most anglers that want walleye will head over to Lac Seul, however, Minnitaki, Abram and Pelican Lakes offer some good walleye fishing too.
Abram Lake
Walleye fishing is good on all parts of Lac Seul and it is no different in the Sioux Lookout area. When anglers come to this area and ask the locals where they should go for walleye, most people will steer them to Lac Seul. It’s just an amazing fishery where you can get numbers and big fish too.
Botsford Lake
There are better walleye lakes in the area than Botsford Lake, but walleye are in here. Some anglers target them and do pretty good, but for many anglers, they like to come over to Botsford for the smallmouth bass fishing.
Lac Seul
Walleye fishing is good on all parts of Lac Seul and it is no different in the Sioux Lookout area. When anglers come to this area and ask the locals where they should go for walleye, most people will steer them to Lac Seul. It’s just an amazing fishery where you can get numbers and big fish too.
Lac Seul is world class fishing for walleye in terms of numbers and sizes, so if you are looking for walleye, we highly recommend spending some time on nearby Lac Seul. It is not uncommon to boat 50 to 100 walleye per day with fish up to and above 30 inches. That won’t be an every day occurrence, but it happens frequently in this area with 2 anglers in the boat that fish hard all day.
Minnitaki Lake
Minnitaki is one of the better walleye lakes in this area. If you want to stay closer to many of the resorts, this is the lake most anglers will come fish instead of Lac Seul. If you’re willing to travel a little further, Lac Seul will usually be the first choice. For many people though, they fish for walleye on Minnitaki and never head over to Lac Seul and they do just fine for numbers and big fish. You have a lot of islands, points and offshore structure to target walleye here all season long.
Pelican Lake
Pelican Lake is a good-sized lake that covers more than 5,700 acres. Water flows into Pelican Lake from Abram Lake via Frog Rapids. The English River then exits the lake on the northwest side via Pelican Falls. The Vermilion River flows into the lake on the west side.
Anglers catch lots of different fish here. The fishing is good for walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass. Lake trout, muskie, perch and whitefish are here too.
