Perrault Lake

Perrault Lake is a deep, clear water lake with plenty of shallower water to fish too.  This lake has good fishing for a variety of fish such as walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, muskie and perch.  Some anglers report tough fishing with the clear water, but if you know how to fish clear water, the fishing can be very good here.  Fluorocarbon leaders will help you catch a lot more fish and by going with 4 to 6 pound fluorocarbon, you will catch more walleye, smallmouth bass and perch.  If you can get on the schools of fish, you can catch good numbers of fish with some trophy fish potential too.  The low light periods of the day provide some very good fishing, so don’t miss out on the early morning or late evening bite.

Walleye Fishing

Perrault Lake is a good walleye lake, however, some anglers that come here will really struggle to catch walleye.  There are plenty of people who come here year after year and report great walleye fishing.

Smallmouth Bass Fishing

Perrault Lake is known as a good smallmouth bass fishing lake.  You can catch good numbers of bass here and big bass are available too.  With the clear water, most anglers report better success by using lighter line in the 4 to 8 pound range and fluorocarbon definitely helps get more bites.

Northern Pike Fishing

Perrault Lake is a good pike lake.  Anglers catch good numbers of them with some big fish too.  There are better pike lakes in the area, but you can definitely target them here and catch plenty of them.

Anglers catch plenty of pike here by targeting the weeds in the bays as well as fishing all the rock here on the points, around the islands, along the shorelines and offshore too.

Panfish Fishing

Crappie

Crappie are secondary on Perrault Lake, but anglers do catch crappie while targeting walleye and perch.  Crappie have become more popular in this area in some of the area lakes and they keep showing up in some of the reports out of Perrault Lake as well.  If you’re looking to target crappie, nearby Cedar Lake has become a pretty good crappie lake with lots of big fish too.

Yellow Perch

Perch are found in large numbers in Perrault Lake.  Find the weeds and you’ll find some perch.  Early in the year, there are plenty of big perch in the bays around the weeds.  In summer and fall, perch will move around a lot, so you may have to move around quite a bit to find the schools of them as well.  It shouldn’t be too hard to find some of these fish if that’s what you want to target on a trip here.  Perrault Lake has a lot of perch and plenty of jumbo perch are here too.

Muskie Fishing

Perrault Lake is home to some very big muskie, but very few anglers will see one on a trip here.  Muskie are not here in large numbers, but there are lakes in the area that do offer good muskie fishing.  Nearby, anglers usually fish Cedar Lake for muskie, but you can also head to Thaddeus Lake as well.  Good numbers of muskie and big fish are available in both lakes.
