At times, the topwater bite can be very good for white bass. From summer through fall, if you target these fish, there will be some opportunities for some very good topwater action. Most anglers will keep a topwater lure rod ready so when they run into a school of white bass busting shad on the surface, they are ready to get in on the action. You can fish topwater to try to find white bass, however, you will usually have more success by waiting for the right time. When you see white bass busting on bait fish all around you on the surface, that is the right time to throw a topwater lure. Don’t go too big and you will get more bites.
