Fishing Branson, MO in the Spring

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
March 60° / 34°
April 71° / 42°
May 78° / 52°

Spring comes early in Branson compared to most of the other popular fishing destinations in the midwest.  Anglers usually come here to experience the excellent bass fishing as largemouth bass, spotted bass and smallmouth bass will all begin to move into the shallows as early as March.  April and May are usually some of the best months in the entire year to plan a fishing trip to Branson.  Bass fishing may be king in the spring here, but the trout fishing is also very good on Lake Taneycomo as well.

Fishing Branson, MO in the Summer

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
June 86° / 61°
July 91° / 65°
August 90° / 63°

The summer provides a lot tougher fishing for most anglers, but the fish are still eating here.  You just have to deal with a lot of pleasure boaters and some very warm to hot weather.  Combine that with the clear waters here and you’re going to have to get used to fishing much deeper compared to many of the other popular fishing destinations in the midwest.  Plan on fishing 15 to 30 feet down and you may even be fishing over much deeper water too as many different species of fish will suspend around the thermocline out over very deep waters all summer long.

For the trout anglers, Lake Taneycomo has cool water temperatures all summer long, so the bite doesn’t come to a screeching halt like it can when water temperatures warm on Table Rock Lake or nearby Bull Shoals Lake.  The mid day bite can usually be much better if you are fishing for trout on Lake Taneycomo than for bass on Table Rock Lake in the middle of the summer.

Fishing Branson, MO in the Fall

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
September 83° / 56°
October 72° / 44°
November 59° / 34°

The fall brings much better fishing than most of the summer.  As water temperatures cool down, you can usually find a lot more fish moving shallower again on Table Rock Lake and nearby Bull Shoals Lake, which makes it easier to find feeding fish.  Plan on seeking out water shallow, deep and pretty much anything in between during the fall months.

Trout will spawn in the fall as well, which can provide some very good fishing, especially, for bigger trout.

Fishing Branson, MO in the Winter

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
December 48° / 26°
January 45° / 22°
February 51° / 25°

The winter is home to some very good fishing, however, most people won’t be coming to Branson to fish during this time of year.  Air temperatures can be quite cool for jumping on a boat and speeding across Table Rock Lake as you go spot to spot in search of fish.  However, this time of year is when Lake Taneycomo shines.  The trout fishing stays good all winter and when air temperatures warm up in to the upper 40s or low 50s, it can be quite comfortable to fish for trout on Lake Taneycomo.  No big waves and you won’t need to make 10 to 12 mile runs to find feeding fish.
