Red Lake


Located in Red Lake, Ontario, Red Lake is an outstanding drive-to fishing lake that has several fishing resorts available to accommodate you on your fishing trip.  Red Lake is a huge lake with so much fishing potential.  It’s a numbers lake and trophy fish are very common too.

The primary species of fish in Red Lake are northern pike and walleye.  Anglers do very well for numbers of walleye and pike as well as trophy-sized fish.  It’s a very good lake for both species of fish.  Perch and whitefish are available, but walleye and pike are what people come to Red Lake for.  Anglers do report an occasional smallmouth bass as well.  Other lakes that you can fish that are connected to Red Lake are Keg Lake, Gullrock Lake, Ranger Lake and Two Island Lake.


Walleye


Red Lake is one of the best drive to lakes in Ontario for northern pike fishing.  There are huge numbers of pike here with lots of trophy fish above 40 inches long.  There is so much productive pike water to fish with the numerous bays, points, islands and offshore structure.

Lake Trout


Lake trout are found in fishable numbers on Red Lake too.  Some anglers do target them, while others just catch them while targeting pike or walleye in deeper water.


Perch


There are perch available in Red Lake.  Many anglers will run into some perch.  Some anglers will find a big school of jumbo perch and that can be exciting.  Most anglers will catch a lot more walleye than jumbo perch though.  It’s a great walleye lake and perch are secondary.
