Homosassa Springs is a developed village off of highway 19 that offers a variety of goods and services to permanent residents as well as drivers passing by. Homosassa is a village that is situated along the banks of the Homosassa River. You will find plenty of places to stay, dining and guide services in this area. The Homosassa River and the Homosassa Springs State Park are the major attractions here.
Anglers can catch a variety of freshwater and saltwater fish here. Homosassa, FL Inshore Fishing
The Homosassa area is known for its excellent inshore fishing. Most anglers fish the river, where you will find plenty of redfish and sea trout. There are several other species of fish you can target here inshore as well. You have so much protected water here to fish that you can find somewhere to fish comfortably even on windy days. There are so many awesome areas to fish here with the docks, creeks and mangroves you can fish here.

Homosassa, FL Nearshore Fishing
The Homosassa area is unique in that there are lots of nearshore rocky structures that hold a lot of fish. Anglers can actually find some of these structures in clear water and sight fish for grouper. You can find structure and fish in just 8 to 10 feet of water here. There is plenty of structure as you go deeper as well. Some of the other fish you may find around the nearshore structure are mangrove snapper, sheepshead, jacks and more.
Homosassa, FL Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing
Homosassa offers some very good offshore fishing, however, it’s a decent boat ride to get out of the river and out to the better fishing spots in the Gulf of Mexico. The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but this area will provide plenty of action year-round. Some of the fish you can catch here offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, king mackerel, permit, amberjack, sharks and others.
