Welcome to our Thousand Islands Fishing Home Page

The Thousand Islands are a group of over 1,700 islands that straddle the United States – Canada border in the St. Lawrence River.  The Canadian islands are in the province of Ontario and the islands in the United States are located in the state of New York.  This area is a popular vacation destination for fishing, boating and camping.

Primary Species of Fish

Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Muskie

This area is home to some fantastic fishing for a variety of fish including game fish such as northern pike, muskie, smallmouth bass and largemouth bass.  Smallmouth bass do better here than largemouth bass, but there are plenty of places where you can target largemouths and they are under fished here by most anglers.  This is big fish country too.  If you put in the time, you may find some absolute giants.  Big pike, muskie and smallmouth bass are caught here every year.

Secondary Species of Fish

Walleye, Crappie, Bluegill, Perch, Catfish

Walleye are available here too and there are some big fish in these waters, however, most anglers won’t report the high numbers of walleye that you would see in some of the better walleye fishing destinations that we feature.  They may be secondary here for most anglers, but you can target them and catch some nice ones if you learn the better spots.  A variety of catfish can be caught here as well.  Panfish such as crappie, bluegill and perch round out an excellent fishery.
