Bigger swimbaits in that 6 to 12 inch range will work well for targeting bigger northern pike. Some of those 6 to 7 inch models do well when you are using thicker swimbaits. You don’t have to go super long as long as there is some size there to give it a bigger profile. As you go longer, you can use some of those baits that are slender as well as some of the thicker baits. Both types work well and some of the biggest pike will fall for a swimbait. At times, you won’t get many bites with these lures, but when you do get bit, there is a very good chance that it will be a good-sized fish. Cast them out and retrieve them in fairly slowly to give the pike a chance to eat these big baits.
