Lake County Florida is home to many popular lakes. You won’t find all the entertainment that you will find in the amusement park capital of the world just south of here, but Lake County gives people the opportunity to enjoy some warm weather and the outdoors without having to deal with all the craziness that you will find in the Orlando area. There are a variety of fish to target here, however, most anglers come here for the excellent largemouth bass fishing.

Lake County, Florida offers some of the best bass fishing in all of Florida. With over 1,000 names lakes, you have plenty of options to fish in this county. Some of the most popular areas to fish in Lake County are the Harris Chain of Lakes, Lake George, the Clermont Chain of Lakes, Holly Chain of Lakes and the St. John’s River. Big bass are very common in Lake County with 10 pound bass caught every year and 5 to 7 pound bass being fairly common.

Crappie, Bream (Bluegill & other similar Sunfish)
Many of the area lakes also have good fishing for a variety of panfish. Crappie (called specks down here) and bream are available in good numbers with lots of big fish too. Bream are just a variety of different sunfish that are similar to bluegill. Pumpkinseed and shell cracker are a couple examples of the different types of bream you will find in the area lakes.
