Florida Keys

If you could pick just one place to do some saltwater fishing, the Florida Keys would be it.  More than 10 percent of the IGFA saltwater line class and fly fishing world records have been set in the Florida Keys.

Anglers come from all over the world to experience the fishing in the Florida Keys.  Many tournaments are held throughout the year for a variety of species.  The backcountry is known for its excellent fishing for bonefish and tarpon.  Go offshore with a charter and you have a chance at catching a monster sailfish.  Over 200 other species are located throughout the crystal clear water of the Florida Keys.

Fort Lauderdale is an outstanding vacation destination.  Located between Miami and Palm Beach, this city has a population of around 200,000 people.  There is more than enough to do here with some outstanding hotels, beautiful beaches, lots of water activities and much more.  You will not have to look very hard to find something for the whole family to enjoy.

The fishing in the Fort Lauderdale area is very good.  Most people plan trips here for the fishing offshore.  There are a variety of species to catch with many charters that focus on swordfish, marlin, shark, tuna and other big fish.  Don’t overlook the inshore fishing, pier fishing and surf fishing because there are lots of options down here depending how you like to fish.


Fort Pierce, FL

The Fort Pierce area is a popular vacation destination, although, it is not nearly as popular as some of the tourist destinations in Florida.  As a result, this area has many uncrowded, peaceful beaches.  This whole area of Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie and Jensen Beach provide visitors with a laid-back atmosphere and plenty of recreational opportunities.  Spend some time boating, swimming, fishing or just laying out on the beach.

The fishing is very good in this area since you have so many options.  You can fish inshore, offshore and from the beaches here.  Fishing charters are available for inshore and offshore fishing trips.  The Indian River provides some excellent fishing for snook, redfish, trout, tarpon and other species. Offshore, anglers target a variety of fish such as dolphin, wahoo, cobia, kingfish, barracuda, amberjack, sailfish, marlin, snapper and grouper.


Lake Okeechobee

Lake Okeechobee is the second largest freshwater lake in the country.  It is arguably the best bass fishing lake as well.  Whether you come here to catch a lot of bass or to catch a giant, you can do both on Lake Okeechobee.

Miami is a large city in southern Florida.  It is known for its diversity, beautiful people, an energetic night life, gorgeous beaches and plenty of water sports.  Most people come to visit Miami for its outstanding night life, but there is also plenty to do here during the day.  Fishing and boating are very popular.

Offshore fishing is fantastic for a variety of species and there are plenty of charters available to take you out for a memorable trip.  Inshore, you have a lot of options.
Biscayne Bay is very good for bonefish, snook, barracuda, permit, tarpon, sharks, grouper and more.


Palm Beaches, FL

The Palm Beaches consists of several towns and it is a beautiful area with plenty of outdoor and beach recreation to keep you busy on your vacation.  There are plenty of hotels, tons of restaurants and entertainment to go along with miles of beaches and some of the quickest access to the Gulf Stream waters in the state.  This area is home to so many awesome fishing destinations such as Boca Raton, FL, Jupiter, FL and Riviera Beach / Singer Island, FL.

For the anglers, you can fish inshore, offshore and from the beaches here.  The Palm Beach Inlet is a great spot to fish for snook and other species of fish too.  If you want to go offshore, just head out of the inlet and you have a short boat ride out to the Gulf Stream waters that are home to a variety of pelagic species.


Stuart, FL

This area is known as the “Sailfish Capital of the World.”  Anglers target more than just sailfish here though.  There are many fishing charters that operate out of Stuart, Florida and they target fish inshore and offshore.  Inshore, the Indian River Lagoon provides great fishing for redfish, sea trout, snook, tarpon and many other species.  Offshore, you can target billfish, sailfish, grouper, snapper and more.
