Central Florida is home to Orlando, which draws millions of visitors every year because of Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and so many other attractions as well. Fishing takes a backseat for most visitors, but for the people who want to do some fishing while visiting Central Florida, there are plenty of options available.
Largemouth bass are king in these local waters, but you may also catch crappie, a variety of sunfish, catfish and more. There are some lakes where it is common to catch good numbers of bass and there are some lakes that have consistently produced very big bass with fish up to and above 10 pounds being possible.

Kissimmee, FL
Kissimmee, Florida is located about 20 miles south of Orlando. With its close proximity to Orlando and Disney World, it’s not hard to wonder why so many people come here to visit. While most people come to Kissimmee to stay, they actually end up spending most of their time at the theme parks of Disney World and the other attractions in Orlando.
As far as Kissimmee, there are plenty of lakes to enjoy and some of the best bass fishing in central Florida is right here on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes. This chain of lakes consists of 20 lakes that range from 200 acres to 44,000 acres. Some of the top lakes to fish on this chain are Lake Kissimmee, West and East Lake Toho, Lake Hatchineha and Lake Cypress. Bass fishing is excellent on the chain with lots of 3 to 5 pound fish and many over 10 pounds.
Lake County, FL
Lake County Florida is home to many popular lakes. You won’t find all the entertainment that you will find in the amusement park capital of the world just south of here, but Lake County gives people the opportunity to enjoy some warm weather and the outdoors without having to deal with all the craziness that you will find in the Orlando area. There are a variety of fish to target here, however, most anglers come here for the excellent largemouth bass fishing.
Lakeland, FL
Located just off the highway, so many people drive by this town every day on their way to the Tampa Bay beaches or the parks and attractions of Orlando, Florida. Lakeland is located about 45 minutes east of Tampa and an hour southwest of Orlando. For many people, they will just drive right past Lakeland without any thought of visiting this area. For others, they have learned that the Lakeland area is a nice place to enjoy the Florida sun and its excellent fishing waters. There is plenty here to keep you busy for a few days or even longer for your vacation. Anglers target a variety of fish in the area, but largemouth bass and sunfish get the most attention from the majority of anglers.
Orlando, FL
Orlando, the home of Walt Disney World, is arguably the best family vacation destination in the entire world. Because of Walt Disney World and the other area attractions, most people are quite busy on their trip to Orlando. Don’t forget to schedule some fishing time when you come down here.
Lake Toho, Walt Disney World and the Butler Chain are just some of the excellent places you can go bass fishing in the Orlando area. If saltwater fishing is more your thing, you aren’t too far from both coasts either.
