Largemouth bass are secondary on Lake of the Woods, however, anglers that fish for bass and pike in the vegetation in this area will report catches of largemouth bass. If you fish in the areas where largemouth bass are typically found, it is not uncommon to see some largemouth bass here. Fish the vegetation in the bays and make sure you have a heavy enough leader to keep the pike from breaking your line. The pike will usually be mixed in with the largemouth bass. You will most likely get more pike bites than largemouth bass, so be prepared. If you like to fish for bass, this is one of the better smallmouth bass destinations you can fish, so think of largemouth bass as a bonus fish here.
