Whiting Fishing in the Space Coast Area

Whiting can be found along the beaches year round, however, the fishing is usually best in the spring and fall.  There are plenty of beaches you can fish along the Space Coast for whiting.  Cocoa Beach is a popular spot to surf fish for whiting around the pier.

Whiting Fishing Tips

Use smaller baits if you want to consistently hook a whiting.  Live and cut baits work great with shrimp being the favorite bait for most anglers.  Make sure to use smaller hooks, but you don’t want to go too light with your rod and reel.  In the surf, you will need some heavier line and a good-sized rod and reel still since you will deal with the crashing waves, current and potentially some bigger fish that may take your baits as well.
