Panfish

Bream or Sunfish (Bluegill, Redear, Pumpkinseed, etc.)

Bluegill, rock bass and other types of sunfish are in Lake Winni too.  Fish the vegetation in the shallows and you will most likely run into some of these fish.  You can find them deeper also, however, a lot of the sunfish don’t want to get eaten, so they will relate to the vegetation in the shallower water for protection.

Crappie

Crappie are definitely secondary here.  Some anglers report catching them and at times, there can be a good shallow water bite around vegetation.  However, many anglers report a better crappie bite in Cut Foot Sioux Lake.

Yellow Perch

Lake Winni has typically been loaded with perch in the past and it’s no different now.  There are a lot of smaller perch in this lake, which is great for the walleye and northern pike to feed on, but for the angler, you are going to have to sort through a lot of these smaller perch to find your eater-sized perch.  If you put in the time though, you should be able to catch some nice eater-sized perch on Lake Winni.  Most anglers come here to fish for walleye and they catch some jumbo sized perch while targeting walleye, which is a nice bonus.
