The east coast of Central Florida is home to Daytona Beach, Sebastian, Palm Coast, Flagler Beach and the Space Coast, which consists of Cocoa Beach and several other beach towns. This area attracts a lot of visitors every year since its beaches are a fairly short drive from Orlando, Florida. The beaches can get crowded in this area, so surf fishing can be a bit more challenging with all the people, but if you want to do some fishing, you do have options to fish from the beaches, piers and bridges. If you can get on a boat, there is some very good fishing for a variety of species inshore, nearshore and offshore.

Daytona Beach, FL
Daytona Beach is a very popular vacation destination for a variety of people. College students line the beaches, restaurants and shops during their spring break every year. There is also a bike week that attracts thousands of motorcycles to the area. Families also love coming to Daytona Beach. Many families will come to Florida to visit Orlando, but they make it over to the beach for a day or two. The area is loaded with gift shops, fast food restaurants, and many different types of lodging. The beaches are beautiful, although cars are allowed to drive on the beach. It is definitely unique and it adds to the appeal of Daytona Beach for some people, while others find it less appealing.
Fishing seems to be secondary in the Daytona Beach area, but there is definitely some good fishing here with a couple of piers nearby and several fishing charters that can take you out for a variety of species. Inshore fishing is popular out of the Indian River Lagoon. Ponce Inlet is located just south of Daytona Beach and this area is popular for fishing. You can fish the inlet from the jetty or from a boat. Some anglers fish the river, while others use the inlet to access the Atlantic Ocean to fish for a variety of fish in offshore waters. The Sunglow Fishing Pier is another place that is popular among anglers. The fishing pier gives anglers the opportunity to fish some deeper water for a variety of different fish. Offshore, anglers can catch a variety of fish depending on the time of year.

Palm Coast / Flagler Beach, FL
Palm Coast and Flagler Beach are laid back beach towns that are located in between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, Florida. This area is a lot less crowded, but there is still plenty to do if you want to plan a trip to Palm Coast or Flagler Beach. This area has miles of beaches, plenty of parks, beautiful waters of the Atlantic Ocean as well as plenty of inshore waters too. Anglers fish miles of uncrowded inshore waters in the Flagler Beach and Palm Coast area for redfish, sea trout, flounder and many other species of fish. For the offshore anglers, the nearest inlet is about 20 minutes north of Palm Coast at Matanzas Inlet.

Sebastian, FL
Sebastian is a small town located just south of the Space Coast. This area doesn’t attract as many visitors as some of the towns just to the north, but this area is very popular for boating and fishing.
The Sebastian Inlet gives anglers access to the Atlantic Ocean. Whether you choose to go out and fish along the beaches or farther offshore, there are a variety of fish that you can target. There are many fishing charters that are available in this area as well. The Sebastian Inlet State Park is a popular hang out as well. Many anglers choose to fish the inlet from boats and from shore. You can experience some excellent fishing from the jetties, especially during the tidal changes. Don’t forget about the Indian River Lagoon. There are plenty of fishing charters that make a living by fishing in the river. You can catch many types of fish including snook, redfish, sea trout and tarpon.

Space Coast, FL
There are 72 miles of beaches along the coastline that make up the Space Coast. The Space Coast has the closest beaches to Orlando. Because of the location, many families find their way over to the popular towns of Cape Canaveral, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, Melbourne Beach and Titusville. Whether you plan on visiting the Kennedy Space Center, going to the beaches, boating or fishing, there is plenty to do here for the entire family.
Fishing is excellent along the Space Coast. Inshore fishing is extremely popular in the Indian River Lagoon. Snook, redfish and trout are plentiful in the Indian River. Numerous guides and charters are available for inshore and offshore fishing for a variety of species.
