Crappie
Crappie are secondary here on many of the lakes and in the river systems. However, there is some good fishing for crappie here on some of the waters if you choose to target them. They are usually under fished as most anglers are here for walleye and smallmouth bass. If you do fish for them, target them in the shallower bays in the spring and early summer and you’ll have a lot more success. The bite is better on the deeper weed lines in the summer, but many of these fish will school up in open water making them harder to find and catch. The Seine River system is where many anglers go if they are looking for crappie in this area.

Yellow Perch
Perch are the primary panfish on many of the area lakes. Most anglers don’t come here to target perch, but they are available and on some waters, you can catch good numbers of them with some jumbo-sized perch too. The Seine River system has good numbers of perch, but so do many of the other lakes in the area. Fish the weed beds and you’ll find perch, especially early in the year. The deeper weed beds are great spots in summer and early fall.

Seine River System
The Seine River system gives you the best of both worlds; good river fishing and lake fishing too. The 5 lakes that make up the Seine River Chain of Lakes are Calm Lake, Banning Lake, Chub Lake, Little McCauley Lake and Perch Lake. There is always somewhere to go to get out of the wind and still catch some fish on this river system. The fishing is very good for many different types of fish. It is one of the better smallmouth bass destinations in this area and also has some very good walleye fishing too. Mix in the northern pike, perch and crappie and you have a lot of options for catching fish here.
