Dams and spillways will attract crappie. It seems like many of the better places to fish for crappie are in the lakes not in the rivers, but there are plenty of lakes that have dams or spillways that create some current after a rain and crappie will be drawn to these areas. The areas that have a lot of current will probably not hold as many crappie. Moderate current with some current breaks are the places to target crappie. On many lakes and ponds, there will be no water coming out of these spillways until after a rain. Fish these areas after a rain and you will have a good chance to catch some crappie.
