Panfish

Bream or Sunfish (Bluegill, Redear, Pumpkinseed, etc.)

Bluegill are found throughout the bay.  You will usually find more of them around the areas that hold a lot of largemouth bass.  Fish the bays with vegetation, around docks and around other types of shoreline cover if you want to catch some bluegill.

Crappie

Crappie move into the bay in good numbers, so if you find a school of them, you can actually catch a lot of nice crappie.  It is much easier to find them in the spring when they move into the shallows to spawn.  Fish the new green weeds, rocks and wood along the shorelines and bays and you’ll find some crappie.  Once summer patterns set in, most crappie will be found roaming the bay in deeper waters through fall.  They can be harder to find for sure, but if you run into a school of them, you can still catch some nice fish.

Yellow Perch

Perch are here in large numbers.  If you’re just looking for action, perch are a good fish to target in the Bay of Quinte.  For walleye anglers, dealing with perch can be annoying at times since they are hoping to get a big walleye to take their bait, not a perch.  There are plenty of jumbo perch in the bay too, so if you’re into perch fishing, this might be a good destination for you.
