Night

Crappie feed actively throughout the night.  Some fishermen mount lights to the bottom of their boats and these lights attract crappie to the boat.  Lighted docks are also great places to target crappie at night.  Good numbers of crappie will move into the shallows at night.  In the spring, crappie move into the shallows to spawn.  If you know where the spawning areas are, you can catch a lot of fish at night.  The warmer nights usually provide the best night fishing in the spring.  During the summer and fall, most crappie will hold in deeper water during the day.  These fish will come into shallower water at night, so try fishing the shallow flats near deep water.  Points, mid-lake humps, weed lines, docks, shallow water timber and brush can all be very effective at night.
