Snook are found in the waters of Florida and in some other areas along the Gulf Coast. This fish is one of the most popular inshore fish. Since they can be found around docks and mangroves along the shorelines, snook are kind of like the largemouth bass for saltwater anglers.
Snook Fishing in the Sanibel and Captiva Islands Area
Snook are one of the most popular fish to target here. Inshore, you can find them throughout the waters on the bay side of the islands. They can be found around the mangroves, in the canals, around the bridges, near the passes and in many other areas too. Along the surf, anglers come here every year during the summer to target snook. You can catch some extremely big snook by surf fishing the beaches of Sanibel and Captiva Islands.
Snook Fishing Tips
Most anglers prefer to use lures for snook, but live baits such as jumbo shrimp and pilchards are some of the best baits to use. At times, snook can be super tough to catch on lures, but a lively shrimp or pilchard will usually still get plenty of bites even when they are picky. If you fish for bass in freshwater, the type of tackle will be similar to largemouth bass fishing except you may have to upsize the rod, reel and line a bit.
