Caddo Lake is a very unique lake.  The lake is located in both Texas and Louisiana.  It is the only natural lake in Texas and it is known for its cypress trees that grow in the water in this lake.  At more than 25,000 acres, there is plenty of water here to hold good numbers of fish and many quality fish too.  This lake is a good largemouth bass and crappie lake with catfish, white bass, yellow bass, striped bass, bluegill and other sunfish as well.

Lake Falcon is known as a big bass lake that is located on the border of Texas and Mexico.  The reservoir was formed by the construction of the Falcon Dam to provide water conservation, irrigation, flood control and hydroelectricity to the area.  For anglers, this more than 83,000 acre lake is one of the best big bass lakes in the state.  Largemouth bass are the main species of fish targeted, but the fishing for catfish can be quite good as well if you know how to target them.

Lake Fork is 27,690 surface acres and it is located in Wood and Rains County of northeast Texas.  With 315 miles of shoreline, there is plenty of water to fish.  Lake Fork has gained the reputation of being one of the best, if not the best bass lake in the country.  There are so many huge bass caught here every year that many of the fishing guides consider 5 pound bass “dinks.”  Of the top 20 State Record Largemouth Bass of Texas, the majority of them were caught from Lake Fork.  Fishing is also excellent for crappie and catfish, however, most anglers do not even think about fishing for these species.  This lake is a remarkable lake, but you may need a fishing guide to get you started.  It is a big lake with tons of wood that sits above the surface, but learning the underwater structure is key to landing some of the monster bass that live here.

O.H. Ivie Lake

O.H. Ivie Lake has taken off recently as it continues to put out huge bass one after another.  This lake is a reservoir that was formerly known as Stacy Reservoir.  It is located 16 miles below the confluence of the Concho River and the Colorado River.  The lake covers more than 19,000 acres and has a maximum depth of 119 feet.  The huge largemouth bass have gotten the most attention on this lake, but there are other species to target as well.  There is a fishable population of smallmouth bass on the lake to go along with good numbers of catfish, crappie and white bass.


Pecos River

The Pecos River originates in north central New Mexico and flows into the state of Texas where it eventually converges with the Rio Grande River.  The area this river covers is huge as it flows for more than 900 miles.  While some parts of this river are known for holding lots of small fish, there are certain sections of the Pecos River that provide some excellent fishing opportunities for anglers to catch some quality-sized trout.  Most anglers will be targeting rainbow trout and brown trout, but cutthroat trout are in the river system as well.

The Rio Grande River is a very large river that flows almost 1,900 miles in the United States and Mexico.  It originates in south-central Colorado and flows to the Gulf of Mexico.  There are several parts of the Rio Grande River that flow through or near our featured fishing destinations on our website, so you can definitely find some great places to experience some excellent fishing on the Rio Grande River.  This river is unknown to most, but many anglers do know about the legendary fishing that is found in the 22 mile section of river near South Fork, Colorado that is designated as Gold Medal Water.  Rainbow trout and brown trout are caught here in good numbers and many big fish are caught in this stretch of the river.

Seadrift, TX

Seadrift is a small, quiet town that is hidden in the Gulf Bend of Texas.  With the proud distinction as being the only city on the San Antonio Bay, Seadrift is an excellent place to do some saltwater fishing for redfish and trout.

Seadrift does not give you any quick access to the Gulf, so most anglers that fish here are coming here to fish the inshore waters of the bays.  You can get away from the rough water here and the fishing can be good in the bays for a variety of fish.  Most anglers target redfish and trout, but other fish are here too.

Toledo Bend Reservoir is a huge reservoir with more than 181,000 surface acres.  It is located on the Sabine River in Shelby, Sabine and Newton counties and it straddles the Texas-Louisiana state line.  The dam is in Newton County approximately 24 miles northeast of Jasper, Texas.  Its maximum depth is 110 feet.  Toledo Bend Reservoir is one of the best largemouth bass lakes in the country.
