Creature Baits

Creature Baits have become quite popular even though they don’t always mimic a natural food source for largemouth bass.  These rigs usually have legs dangling in all different places to excite bass with some extra action.

What Sizes are Best for Largemouth Bass Fishing?

There are so many good creature baits in a variety of sizes.  Most anglers will be using baits in the 4 to 5 inch range for action with the possibility of a big fish too.  To consistently target big largemouth bass, you can upsize and go beyond that 5 inch size.

How to Rig Creature Baits

With so many different creature baits on the market in so many different sizes and shapes, anglers can use just about any possible bass fishing rig for these baits.  The Texas rig is very popular, but you can also use a swimbait hook, Carolina rig and a variety of different jigheads.

Best Techniques

Flipping & Pitching Around Cover

Flipping and pitching around cover is one of the most productive ways to target largemouth bass with creature baits.

Hop Them Along the Bottom

Hop these baits along the bottom with some pauses mixed in.  Fish them around wood, scattered vegetation and other cover.

Drag Them Along the Bottom

Some anglers have good success just slowly dragging these baits along the bottom.
