Skirted Twin Tailed Grubs (Spider Jigs)

Skirted twin tail grubs, also known as spider jigs, are very popular baits for targeting largemouth bass.  You can rig them a variety of ways and expect to do well when fishing for largemouth bass.

What Sizes are Best for Largemouth Bass Fishing?

For action and quality largemouth bass, try using these baits in the 4 to 5 inch range.

How to Rig Skirted Twin Tail Grubs (Spider Jigs)

Rigging them is easy as most anglers will just use their favorite type of jighead to pair up with the spider jig.  The spider parts come as a 2 piece, so it is a little more work to rig that type of spider jig, but more the most part, this is an easy bait to rig and you don’t need to use a variety of different rigs to fish it.  However, some anglers do prefer a Texas rig, Carolina rig or even a weightless Texas rig with these baits.

Best Techniques

Hop Them Along the Bottom

Most anglers will just put these baits on a jighead and hop them along the bottom.  Fish them slow and expect to feel the bite when you pause the bait and let it fall back towards the bottom.

Fish Them Slowly Through the Water Column

You can work them through the water column as well to get plenty of bites.  Their action is really good when fished with a lighter weight slowly through the water column.

Swim Them

Some anglers do very well just swimming these baits with a slow and steady retrieve.
