Lake trout are found in good numbers on Lake Simcoe. There is a lot of deep water here, so lake trout have plenty of cold, deep water to help them get through the summers comfortably. The deep waters of Kempenfelt Bay are popular for targeting lake trout. Most anglers that fish for them in the open water season will do so by trolling, but some people jig for them too. Early and late in the year, lake trout can be found a lot shallower, which makes them a lot more accessible. Through the ice, lots of anglers target lake trout and there are usually reports of anglers catching them all winter long.
