Snook are found in the waters of Florida and in some other areas along the Gulf Coast. This fish is one of the most popular inshore fish. Since they can be found around docks and mangroves along the shorelines, snook are kind of like the largemouth bass for saltwater anglers.
Snook Fishing in the Everglades City, Florida Area
Snook are one of the most popular fish to target here inshore. The warm waters of Everglades City provide excellent fishing opportunities for snook year round. The winter months are best for catching snook back in the creeks and on the flats. You can catch snook year round here, but at times, the better bite will be in the bigger bays, cuts and passes out away from the creeks.
Snook Fishing Tips
Most anglers prefer to use lures for snook, but live baits such as jumbo shrimp and pilchards are some of the best baits to use. At times, snook can be super tough to catch on lures, but a lively shrimp or pilchard will usually still get plenty of bites even when they are picky. If you fish for bass in freshwater, the type of tackle will be similar to largemouth bass fishing except you may have to upsize the rod, reel and line a bit.
