October 56° / 35°
November 37° / 20°

In the fall, September and early October are awesome months for fishing for just about everything that swims here.  Many fish will move back into the shallows as water temperatures cool off early in the fall, so don’t rule out some of that shallow water cover that was so good here in the spring.

Fishing Detroit Lakes, MN in the Winter (Ice Fishing)

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
December 22° / 4°
January 18° / -3°
February 24° / 1°

You have a lot of options to ice fish here in the winter.  With so many smaller lakes, anglers can get into many waters that may not be accessible with the bigger boats.  For the anglers without boats, you have so many options with all the hard water here in the winters.  Anglers target walleye, northern pike and panfish through the ice here.
