Tamarac Lake is prone to winter fish kills. Like similar lakes in Minnesota, bullhead, northern pike and perch tend to do survive the winter fish kills while largemouth bass, walleye and sunfish don’t do so well. The DNR restocks the lake after a fish kill, so depending on the most recent fish kill will dictate what types of fish you will be able to catch. Anglers can target northern pike, largemouth bass, walleye, bluegill, crappie and perch.
