In Bull Shoals Lake, trout are limited, so most anglers will head over to fish the nearby White River or Lake Taneycomo in the Branson. The fishing can be awesome in both places. Rainbow trout are available in huge numbers and some big brown trout are available too. Lake Taneycomo will be an hour drive or longer depending on where you are staying for your Bull Shoal’s Lake trip, so if you’re looking to catch some trout without driving as far, take a look at the Bull Shoals Lake Tailwater.
Bull Shoals Lake Tailwater
The Bull Shoals Tailwater was created as a result of the Bull Shoals Dam. The dam was built in 1952 for flood control and hydroelectric power generation, but this tailwater fishery has become one of the best trout fishing rivers in the midwest. This section of the river is what most people are talking about when they are talking about their white river fishing trips. This area is very popular and we have our own White River section, so take a look if you want to learn more about the trout fishery here.
