White bass are available in Beaver Lake and for some anglers, they are a great fish that provides excellent action, especially during the spawning time in the spring. Most anglers won’t target white bass, but they will catch them while fishing with smaller lures while targeting smallmouth bass and spotted bass. If you want to target them, you definitely can on Beaver Lake and its tributaries.
Fish the Tributaries of Beaver Lake
The tributaries of Beaver Lake, such as the White and War Eagle rivers, are home to a large run of spawning white bass every spring. Walleye move into the river to spawn first and then white bass follow as water temperatures warm up. Just follow the fishing reports in the springtime and you will know when the white bass are running. However, when the dogwoods are blooming, it is time to check the rivers for white bass.
Fish the Rip Rap Near the North End of Beaver Dam
This area is a popular spawning spot for white bass in the spring. You won’t have the spot all to yourself but, large numbers of white bass spawn in this area.
Fish for Schooling White Bass in the Summer
In the summer, white bass can often be found in large schools around shad out on the main lake. These schools of fish will move around, which makes it a lot harder to find them. However, if you can get on a school of white bass when they are feeding actively, you can catch a lot of fish in a hurry.
