Brookville Lake


Brookville Lake is located in Franklin and Union counties on the East Fork of the Whitewater River.   The lake consists of 5,260 acres and it is popular among fishermen and boaters.  This lake has a lot of diversity.  Anglers target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, striped bass, walleye, muskie, catfish, crappie, trout and white bass in Brookville Lake.  Walleye, striped bass and crappie get a lot of attention on this lake.  Trolling for walleye and stripers can be very effective on this lake.



Monroe Lake


Monroe Lake is located about 10 miles southeast of Bloomington, Indiana.  It is the largest lake in Indiana with 10,750 acres of water.  Because of its close location to Bloomington, there are plenty of hotels and restaurants nearby, which is different from most of the other popular lakes in this state.  Monroe Lake is very popular among fishermen and boaters.  This lake has been stocked heavily in the past and as a result, the fishing is very good for largemouth bass, crappie, hybrid striped bass, walleye and bluegill.  You can also catch smallmouth bass and catfish.



Ohio River


The Ohio River offers anglers some good fishing opportunities in Southern Indiana.  On the river, anglers target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, bluegill, crappie, walleye, sauger, white bass, yellow bass and more.  If you fish with live bait, you may end up catching so many different species while fishing the river.  If you use lures that replicate smaller minnows, you will also have a good chance to catch a variety of different fish.  The river provides anglers with good action when the bite is on and there are some quality fish in the river as well.  This part of the river is known for producing some very large catfish and there are guides that do target them here.


Patoka Lake


Patoka Lake is a very large lake located in southern Indiana.  The lake covers 8,800 acres and it is very popular for fishing and boating.  This lake is one of the more popular lakes in Indiana to get away for the weekend.  There are a variety of fish in Patoka Lake.  In this lake, there are good populations of largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, striped bass, catfish and white bass.    You can also catch northern pike and muskie, but they are much less prevalent than the other species.  Bass fishing tournaments have grown in popularity here over the last few years.  Bass in the 3 to 5 pound range are common and many tournaments will see a big fish that exceeds 5 pounds.
