The towns in Otter Tail Country are Fergus Falls, Pelican Rapids and Perham. This area is home to over 1,000 lakes and streams. This is a great area for enjoying the outdoors whether it be fishing, boating, hiking or just getting outside in this beautiful part of Minnesota.
The lakes in this region offer excellent fishing for a variety of fish such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, muskie and panfish. You have a lot of options and there are so many lakes here that you can usually find a place to get away from the crowds and catch some fish.
Primary Species of Fish
Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye
This area is home to so many lakes and the area is known for its good fishing for largemouth bass, northern pike and walleye. Good numbers and some trophy fish can be found here too. Largemouth bass are overlooked by most anglers, so you can enjoy throwing baits at bass who are not used to seeing that many lures. Pike are everywhere and you can do well on walleye if you know how to target them.
Secondary Species of Fish
Muskie, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, Crappie, Bluegill
This area has so many lakes to fish, although, most of the lakes are better for largemouth bass and northern pike than muskie or smallmouth bass. There is one solid muskie lake here though with several lakes that are solid for smallmouth bass fishing. The perch, crappie and bluegill fishing can fluctuate from year to year and lake to lake, but there are plenty of lakes in the area that support a good fishery for panfish.
