Largemouth Bass

While striped bass get most of the attention here on Lake Texoma, the largemouth bass fishery is pretty good as well.  Anglers have miles and miles of shorelines to fish for largemouth bass, so it can be a little challenging for anglers to know where to start when they first come to this lake.

Fish the Bridges

There are some large bridges around the lake and they will definitely hold largemouth bass to go along with plenty of other species too.  You will find some largemouth bass closer to the shorelines around these bridges, but as you go farther offshore, some bass will school up and feed on bait ship around the pilings in the summer and fall.  If you have a bridge close to where you’re launching, it is a spot worth checking out.

Fish the Coves

There are a good number of smaller coves throughout the lake.  The spring is usually best for hitting these coves, however, schools of shad can easily push into these coves off the main lake, so don’t rule them out in the summer and fall for a variety of bass and other fish too.

Fish the Creek Arms

There are tons of creek arms off the main lake that are great spots to fish for largemouth bass, especially in the spring when they move into these areas to spawn.  Look for shoreline cover and areas with a better drop-off along the shoreline and you have some good spots to target largemouth bass.

Fish the Docks

Docks are not littered all over the lake, however, there are some areas with plenty of docks to fish and docks will always hold some largemouth bass from spring through fall.  The spring is usually the best time to fish for largemouth bass around the docks, but don’t rule out the docks with deeper water in the summer and fall months.

Fish the Islands

Lake Texoma does have some nice islands to fish offshore.  Fish the cover along these shorelines with nice drop-offs and you’ll find some largemouth bass, especially in the summer and fall.  You will also find suspended bass just off of these islands in the summer and fall as they school up to feed on bait fish.

Fish the Main Lake

While you can find some largemouth bass in the creek arms from spring through fall, a lot of quality largemouth bass will move out onto the main lake during the summer months.  Fish the shorelines with nice drop-offs and cover such as rocks or wood.  Don’t rule out the big bass that suspend out in deeper water.  You can catch some nice bass around schools of bait fish in deeper water on the main lake in the summer and fall.
