The Apalachicola area is a nice beach vacation destination without the crowds. You won’t find all of the amenities that you will find in many of Florida’s popular beach destinations, but you will find enough places to eat, some nice lodging accommodations, beautiful beaches and excellent fishing.

Inshore Fishing
The Apalachicola Bay offers anglers some awesome inshore fishing opportunities. The barrier islands allow anglers to fish calmer water and with river feeding into the bay, numerous flats, passes and oyster beds, anglers have so many places to find fish. Anglers target a variety of fish here, but the most popular fish that anglers target in the bay are redfish, sea trout, flounder, sheepshead and black drum. The time of year will dictate what anglers catch in the bay.

Nearshore Fishing
Nearshore, anglers can catch a lot of fish running along the outside of the beaches along the barrier islands throughout this area. Some of the species you may catch here in the nearshore waters are tarpon, grouper, snapper, kingfish, cobia and others. The time of year will dictate what fish will be more prevalent.
Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing
There is some excellent fishing in the offshore waters of Apalachicola. Local anglers and fishing charters fish offshore for a variety of fish and the target species of fish will vary depending on the season. The popular fish that are targeted here are grouper, snapper, cobia, king mackerel, amberjack, wahoo, barracuda and mahi mahi.

Shore Fishing
There are miles of beaches and plenty of places to fish from the surf. Some of the popular species of fish that you may catch from the beaches are whiting, pompano and redfish. From the bridges, you have tons of room to fish for a variety of fish such as redfish, sheepshead, black drum, flounder, sea trout, flounder, sharks and more.
