These lakes are very productive early in the year. When the walleye opener arrives, anglers enjoy catching lots of fish right up along the shorelines all over both lakes. Walleye, pike, smallmouth bass, perch and crappie can all be found fairly shallow. Because these lakes are so shallow and so murky, they warm up quicker than many of the other popular lakes in Ontario, which gives anglers some outstanding early season fishing here.

As water temperatures warm, summer patterns set in and many of the fish will be found on the numerous rock humps and islands. You can still catch a lot of fish along the shorelines on both lakes, but the rock humps will hold so many fish in the summer and fall. Anglers can find lots of walleye, northern pike and crappie all over these structures. Muskie, perch and smallmouth bass will be found in these spots too.
