Shore Fishing (Jetties, Piers, Surf)

Learn more about the shore fishing in the Captiva Island & Sanibel Island area.

Fish the Sanibel Causeway

The Sanibel Causeway is a large bridge and it is one of the best spots to fish in this area.  There will almost always be something worth catching around the causeway.  While this is a popular spot for boaters, you can also fish several areas from shore as well.  Most anglers come here to target snapper, grouper, snook, redfish, sharks and more.

Sanibel Island Lighthouse Beach & Fishing Pier

The lighthouse and beach are located on the eastern tip of Sanibel Island.  The fishing pier is a fairly small pier when you compare it to other fishing piers in Florida, however, if you can get a spot, you can catch some nice fish during the tidal changes.

Surf Fishing

The beaches of Sanibel Island and Captiva Island are awesome for fishing from the surf.  These islands are known for their shells, so you may want to bring your favorite water shoes out here, especially if you’re going to do some walking to cover some water.  Many anglers catch nice snook right from the beach, which is awesome.  A variety of sharks are consistently caught from the surf too.  There are many other species of fish available as well.

Fish Blind Pass

Blind Pass is one of the most popular spots to fish on Sanibel Island.  There is a beach and bridge here, so anglers have good access to fish this area.  The fishing is usually good for snook during the tidal changes.  Anglers also catch sheepshead and a variety of other fish too, but the snook fishing is usually what gets the most attention in this pass.
