Running the Beaches
It is very common to see boats running the beaches as they search for a variety of fish in the nearshore waters around Captiva Island & Sanibel Island. When the tarpon run is going on, you will see plenty of boats out in this area fishing for them out along the beaches. Anglers also catch a variety of other fish running the beaches such as bluefish, cobia, mackerel, tripletail, sharks and more.
Nearshore Reefs & Wrecks
The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has a great website that allows you to see reefs and wrecks on a map. Their Interactive Map Viewer is awesome, so feel free to check that out if you’re looking to structure fish the nearshore or offshore waters off of Captiva Island & Sanibel Island.
